## What is Trixie Betting? Do you understand Trixie betting?

If not, this brief description of Trixie betting may help explain how this simple, but often confused betting strategy may help to ‘protect’ your acca selections by including additional doubles and trebles within your selections.

As you can imagine, increasing the number of bets is a way to hedge your bets against the possibility of losing bets. This is an advanced betting strategy, but one that should be considered when you believe that several your bets are likely to win, but you’re not as confident about all of your selections.

## Where are Trixie bets used?

Punters use Trixie betting across many sports to balance the returns and the risks associated with betting. Horse racing is the most obvious choice, but soccer is also a good sport to use Trixie betting, as multiples and accumulators can be enjoyable, but high risk. Long term bankroll growth is less likely with the increasing number of multiples bets used within your regular selections.

That’s why bookmakers added Trixie betting, which is constructed with 4 bets across 3 selections. Therefore, you’re really looking at three selections as a standard treble bet and then also betting on the individual doubles that would make up the treble.

For example, if you placed a Trixie bet on the following treble bet…

Bet 1: Team A vs Team B
Bet 2: Team C vs Team D
Bet 3: Team E vs Team F

…and you wanted Team A, Team C and Team E to win the treble. Your Trixie bet would look something like this…

Bet 1: Team A and Team C to both win (double bet)
Bet 2: Team A and Team E to both win (double bet)
Bet 3: Team C and Team E to both win (double bet)
Bet 4: Team A to win + Team C to win + Team E to win (Treble bet)

…Therefore, you’re really placing four bets across your treble, which means that you have all of the double combinations covered within the original treble bet.

This is a great way to increase potential winning, whilst offering a practical method to ‘protect’ your bets by covering issues if one of your selections does not win the selection.

Try playing with the Trixie bet calculator, above, so you can start to under stand how the different match outcomes may affect the overall returns, profits and your bankroll.

Good luck!
